Turquoise water of the Blue Pond in Biei, Hokkaido, with trees growing straight in the middle of it makes the place look otherworldly. Still, the pond is real and it=EF=BF=BDs gathering popularity among tourists.
Scientists don=EF=BF=BDt know exactly what gives the Blue Pond its incredible aquamarine color, but one of the possible explanations is that aluminum rich water from the river nearby creates a colloid =EF=BF=BD a solution of dispersed microscopic particles =EF=BF=BD that reflects sunlight in a peculiar way.
